Afternoon Delight

I would like to start today's post with a heartfelt "Thank You" to Direct TV for giving me the MLB Network. I have been pleasantly surprised with the quality of programming on the NFL Network, and I have to say that the MLB Network is even better. Harold Reynolds, who left ESPN in disgrace, is the best baseball analyst in the world. (His interview with Rickey Henderson last week was too awesome even for words.) They showed all four games of the 2007 World Series, in their entirety, last month. And there was quality television all morning today, starting with an in-depth and thorough discussion on baseball's long standing records, and then ending with an hour long examination of the 2009 Red Sawx. Awesome.

I have been insanely busy lately, and all of my free time has been spent lovingly watching baseball on Direct TV. I have a lot of BIG news to blog about, just not yet. Within the next month or so, you can expect some very informative posts about what's been going on. Until then, please bear with me as I blog sparingly and post fluff pieces.

Here is a variation on a cool post idea I got from the lovely Sass. (as always, loveliness is not guaranteed.) The basic premise was, I think, to list and then discuss 10 things about myself that start with a specific letter of the alphabet. My twist on the post is that I am going to just list a whole bunch of things I like, without much in the way of explanation. Easy way out? You bet. I would say I am trying to make Sass look good, but we all know I make everyone look good. (plus Sass doesn't need MY help.)

The letter she chose for me is "S" for some unknown reason. Are you ready? Buckle up.
Here are a bunch of things I like that start with the letter S:

Sox (obviously)
Summertime
Shawshank Redemption
Swearing
Sambuca
Shaving (really... I shave in the shower and I really don't mind it.)
Stewie from Family Guy
Stockton, John (my all time favorite basketball player, and the reason I wore #12 in high school)
Spongebob Squarepants (I used to watch him with Jared every Saturday morning, which was fun)
Self Service gas (I will never, ever go to full serve. I mean, I am not disabled. I can pump my own damn gas. People are so lazy.)
Spiders (I hope they eat all of the crazy centipedes in my house)
Salmon (my favorite kind of fish... I get salmon to eat all the time when we go out to dinner.)
Sodomy (haha, just kidding)
Stone Cold Lead Pipe Locks (if you have been reading my blog for a while, you know that I am truly amazing at picking games. For example, I picked Niagara over Illinois State yesterday. Today I have Providence -2.5 over Notre Dame)
Shirley (that's my grandmother's name)
Sunglasses (I have a dope pair right now)
Sneakers

Okay, that's all I can think of right now. Maybe I will add some more as they come to me. Have a great weekend out there... be safe and have fun and I will be back with some more nonsense in the very near future. Here's a funny picture for any monkey lovers out there...

I'm on pins and needles about your news. I'll do my best to be patient but if you hear a big *SIGH* from over there, it's probably me.

Thanks for the monkeys! They made me laugh, HARD. I'm trying to think of a way to display them in my sidebar. I think I'll pretend you gave me an award.

I love big news. And will be waiting less than patiently. ;)

And...loveliness is assured, my friend. ;)

Oh, and I chose S so you could put me on the list, but apparently, Captain Obvious, you didn't catch that clue bus as it drove by.

TWC, for some reason, decided to up and give us MLB network, too. I don't know why. Usually I have to pay an extra $4.00 a month for something like that (it's worth when I'm watching Indiana games).

And that picture is the coolest fucking thing I've seen all day. And I saw some cool shit, let me tell you.

Speaking of Stone Cold Lead Pipe Locks, are you doing that Streak for the Cash thing on ESPN.com? If you pick 27 games in a row, you win a million dollars. I can't seem to get more than 4 or 5 in a row before dropping one. It's tough..

Hey is Hazel Mae on MLB network or is she on MLB. com?

We so have to meet up at Fenway this summer.

Jon: Yes, we do the Streak for the Cash at work. I am surprisingly terrible at it. I picked Pistol Pete Webber yesterday in the PBA, and he let me down. I have Alberta in today's curling championship, so we will see.

Candy: Hazel Mae is on the MLB Network, I don't know about MLB.com.

Yeah, right, you were just kidding about the sodomy thing...

Moving on, please give us big news soon! We're sitting on the edge of our seats here!

Go Texas Rangers! At least until the All-Star break when the players and fans lose interest.
